One scan instead of a long password
A Wi-Fi QR code stores your network name, password and security type. When a guest points their phone camera at it, the phone offers to join the network. It is the easiest way to share Wi-Fi in a cafe, rental apartment, office or at home.
Print it on a table card, frame it by the door or add it to your welcome sheet. Because the details are stored in the code itself, it keeps working with no account and no subscription.
How to do it
- Enter your network nameType the Wi-Fi name exactly as your phone shows it, including capital letters and spaces.
- Add the password and security typeMost home and office routers use WPA, WPA2 or WPA3. Choose "No password" for an open network.
- Download and printSave it as PNG for screens or PDF for a table card. A code of 4 to 5 cm is enough to scan from a table.
- Test it with two phonesOpen the camera, point it at the code and tap "Join network". Try one iPhone and one Android before you print many copies.
Why this code never expires
Everything is stored in the pattern itself. There is no short link and no server in between, so nobody can switch the code off, not even us. See how other generators do it.
Questions
Do Wi-Fi QR codes work on iPhone and Android?
Yes. iPhones since iOS 11 and almost all Android phones read Wi-Fi QR codes with the built-in camera and offer to join the network.
Is my Wi-Fi password safe?
The code is made in your browser and the password is never sent to us. Keep in mind that anyone who can scan the printed code can join your network, so for a business use a separate guest network.
What happens if I change my Wi-Fi password?
The old code stops connecting, because the password is stored inside it. Make a new code with the new password and replace the printed one.
Does a Wi-Fi QR code expire?
No. It contains only your network name and password, so it works for as long as those stay the same.
